Kingaroy is the heart of an agricultural region focused on peanuts, grains and vineyards. It featured a large town centre which had dissipated over time due to fringe activity, with the centre requiring new energy and visitation. Community planning and masterplanning focused around the town’s cultural precinct, incorporating an information centre, art gallery and history museum around interpretive displays and gardens. The old Council chambers were converted into an art gallery and a craft workshop. A visitor centre was designed to bridge the gallery to an existing historical museum featuring agricultural heritage. The museum was enlivened with a courtyard to allow workshops and gathering spaces.
