Bellingen enjoys a thriving community life which embraces both traditional rural folk as well as alternative and tree-change dwellers.
JMLA master planned a series of public place improvements for the whole town and assisted Council to get funding through the State Highway ‘Pedestrian Priority’ programme. JMLA designed a pedestrian-oriented streetscape focused on safe crossings and avenues of trees to calm vehicle movement along the highway. The lush streetscape features local trees and wide gardens. The town’s war memorial is now within a generous public space at one end of the Main Street.
