Wauchope gets a Make-Over
Wauchope is a traditional Main Street which was located on a state highway and became part of a growth corridor. Traffic congestion and pedestrian safety were concerns on this busy street. Residents wanted to create a more welcoming character with references to Wauchope ‘s timber heritage. The streetscape is now well established and safe crossings create a pleasant town centre.
A year-long streetscape consultation and master planning project by authority led to the creation of safe and green pedestrian crossings and streetscapes. Council undertook design and construction in further processes ,which were all funded by the NSW Roads pedestrian safety programme.
