We have designed and project managed street and park furniture over the last thirty years, commencing with a collaboration for a complete town furniture and signage range for Cleveland.
Our approach is to develop micro-architectural elements which fit seamlessly into the character of towns and places, and which reflect the unique culture and environment of each specific location. We aim to minimize manufacturing processes and finishes to reduce environmental impact, cost and maintenance. We focus on the creation of high quality furniture which will have a long life.
Our design process commences with an understanding of the local resources – materials, fabricators, artists, contractors. This understanding allows us to design products which minimize the carbon footprint of manufacturing. Designing furniture that can be made locally, using materials readily available nearby, means that local economies benefit, cartage is minimized and the character of local materials is featured.
